Thomas declined to say whether Sorokin will be deported to Germany, as legally stipulated, as she had an expired tourist visa when she was convicted.

“For Anna, the next step is to rebuild her life and live with an atmosphere of normalcy (…) I want people to understand that Anna is first and foremost human,” said the lawyer.
Shortly after his release from the Albion Medium Security Jail in New York State, Sorokin posted a black and white photo of himself to his more than 75,000 followers on Instagram.
In bed, wearing huge sunglasses between immaculate sheets, he wrote, “You don’t know how exhausting prison is.” Many fans welcomed her and treated her like “queen”.
Sorokin, 30, invented a new identity when she arrived in the United States in 2016, posing as an heiress, when she was actually the daughter of a former Russian truck driver who moved to Germany when she was 16 years old.
With cunning lies and unprecedented confidence, the young woman, who said her name was Anna Delvey, sought a $ 22 million loan to start a private club and got several banks to leave her tens of thousands of dollars.

After a month of trial, a jury ruled that the young woman was guilty of eight of the ten crimes of fraud and theft charged. She was sentenced to four to 12 years in prison in May 2019.
