Apple iPhone 12 MagSafe technology not only facilitates loading, but also allows functional accessories that can be broken magnetically to smartphones without using a case. The most anticipated of these is a portable charger, and Anker seems to be going take one out the door before Apple do what.

A a few days ago, Bloomberg quoted anonymous sources in a report who claimed that Apple is working on an upgrade of its smart battery case, which completely removes the case. Instead, she attaches securely directly to the back of an iPhone 12 using MagSafe magnets, while delivering a charge using wireless induction technology.

Why it took so long to make an accessory that seemed an obvious thing to launch with the new iPhone 12 line, when it was unveiled last year, is unknown, but Apple has a history of being too cautious about accessories related to power – see power adapter reminders, battery replacement on smartphones and laptops, and more recently cancellation carpet loading with multiple AirPower devices he had previously announced at an event.

Whatever the reason Apple doesn’t already have a MagSafe battery available, it could be debatable, because starting March 3, Anker will start delivering its own. Anker PowerCore Magnetic 5K Wireless Power Bank has a 5,000 mAh battery, and, although it is larger than the batteries in the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and even the iPhone 12 Pro Max, wireless charging is not as efficient as charging with a cable. Aa result, Anker claims that its new magnetic power bank can charge iPhone 12, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max only at 95%, 97% and 75% of their maximum capacities, respectively. However, it can completely recharge a dead iPhone 12 mini with a backup power.

Anker PowerCore Magnetic 5K Wireless Power Bank can only be charged using a USB-C cable. It doesn’t look like you can place it on a wireless charging pad to complete it, and because it is not an officially certified MagSafe accessory (listed only as MagSafe compatible) that can be loaded at speeds of up to 15 watts, Anker’s magnetic power bank is limited to 7.5 watts. It is a minor disadvantage, but still a disadvantage.

If Apple launches its own MagSafe battery pack, will undoubtedly support the fastest MagSafe charging speeds, but as with all Apple accessories, it probably won’t be cheap. Despite the limited charging speed (roughly equivalent to the charging speed of the small power adapters that Apple included with its phones), the Anker PowerCore Magnetic 5K wireless power bank will be available for only $ 40 when delivered next week. Could be the most compelling reason not to wait for Apple.
