Build-A-Bear’s official line, eagerly awaited Animal Crossing: New Horizons plushies are on sale this morning at 11 a.m. Eastern. To meet the massive demand, Build-A-Bear has created a virtual queue for customers to gather to wait for their chance to buy items that have not even been revealed yet. Nothing could go wrong with this plan. Update: It’s just Tom Nook and Isabelle. Boo.

Here’s how the Build-A-Bear virtual waiting room works. Customers can start queuing at 10:30 p.m. Build-A-Bear website. In the queue, they will be randomly assigned a seat in line. Once it’s a customer’s turn, they will have a limited amount of time to buy items from Animal Crossing: New Horizons Collection. Once purchased, customers are free to go to eBay and sell everything they just bought for at least double the price.

There are some problems with such a system. First, as we’ve seen with sales of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S from the new consoles released in November, robots and scalpers love automatic waiting systems, regularly dominating sales of hard-to-find items.

Second, Build-A-Bear doesn’t even reveal characters and objects until 10:30 a.m. Eastern. Because all the fans know that they could prepare to queue Barold the bear man or when, the mouse whose eyes look like boils and the eyebrows look like eyes. I’m sure they’ll have Isabelle or whatever (we’ll update once the collection is revealed), but what if?

If you really like it Animal Crossing: New Horizons and you want something to caress you, the best option, apart from becoming very good friends with my husband, is to wait until the summer, when the Build-A-Bear collection arrives in stores. You will have a better chance of getting what you want, plus you will see someone in a Build-A-Bear polo filling it with down. It is the miracle of life and after that you can go to the food court for a few pretzels. Everyone wins.

Updated 10:30 am: It’s just Isabelle and Tom Nook. Why keep it a secret if there are only the two most obvious? Who knows.
