Android 12 DP3: The screenshot editor adds fonts, animation

As we delve into the details of the third preview of the Android 12 developer, we find several notable changes, including the screenshot editor and the bookmark.

We still don’t see the long-awaited scrolling screenshot option in Android 12 DP3, but you’ll have more options for editing images. It extends to changes first added to the Android 12 DP1 version, with additional fonts now included to choose from, while the animation at the publisher launch has also been changed.

When you tap the “Edit” or “Share” buttons in Android 12 DP3, the animation is much smoother in the preview window at the bottom left, either in the bookmark / screenshot editor or in the sharing sheet. There are small changes of this kind that you may not notice at first, but it helps to improve the fluidity of daily use – especially on the Pixel 4 and Pixel 5 screens of 90 Hz.

The text tool with the previous Android 12 DP1 and DP3 screenshot editor was limited to one original font, but now you have five options to choose from, including cursive handwriting, a bold, italic, typewriter and bubbly style together with the standard Roboto font. It’s not the most extensive list, but combined with the ability to draw, you’ll probably have enough options to edit the screenshots you want to share.

Something notable is the removal of the “Sticker” tab that contains the entire list of emojis. We’re not sure if this is a temporary exclusion from the Android 12 screenshot editor, but it could be an annoying removal if you used it extensively before DP3.
