“I intend to run,” Giuliani said to the conservative-leaning Washington Examiner. He claimed he had a good chance of firing an “injured” Cuomo.

Giuliani told the examiner that he plans to formally launch his campaign later this month after meeting with the New York State Republican Committee. He also said Trump advised him, although he noted that the former president has not yet stated which candidate he will support.
Giuliani, who also works as a political commentator for the conservative newspaper Newsmax, has close ties to Trump, a relationship that could endear him to the Republican base but could be toxic in a general election in a state the former president met with. lost more than 23. points in November.
Republicans have generally struggled to make headway in the Empire State in recent years. The party has not won a governor’s competition since 2002 and has not won a government office for 15 years. Democrats also have super majority in both chambers of the state legislature.

The governor has been severely criticized for sexual harassment allegations brought against him by a number of women. He is also facing a growing furor over revelations that his office has deliberately underestimated the number of deaths from the coronavirus in nursing homes in New York.
James is leading an investigation into sexual misconduct claims against him, and the State Assembly is conducting an impeachment inquiry into Cuomo, a sign of the governor’s diminishing support in the state legislature.
