Mourning in Colombian football for the death of one of the best butterflies that the local tournament and the Colombian national team had. Wilson Américo Quiñones Angulo died Tuesday, leaving a large legacy.

This tumaqueño by birth was one of the great figures to be remembered in Cali America, team with which he was champion at 1979. In the scarlet team he played from 1974 to 1980, for a total of 178 games, scoring three goals.

In addition, Américo Quiñones wore the shirts of Quindío, Tolima, Bucaramanga, Santa Fe and Cúcuta. He also wore the Colombian national team jersey, competing in the pre-Olympic Games in 1976 and qualifying in 1985.

Quiñones was a powerful midfielder. He was not the most attractive or the most talented, but he had a good physical display. Unbeaten in the brand, he always compensated his game with great will.
