Amber Alert: 8-month-old Braiden Waters found safe after being kidnapped from Dolton

DOLTON, Ill. (WLS) – An 8 month old baby was found in good condition after an Amber Alert on Saturday morning.

Dolton police say the boy was in a car seat in the back of a vehicle in Block 1300 of Sibley Blvd at around 7:35 a.m. when it was believed he had been abducted by an unknown man.

Waters’s father went in to grab food and had his rental car run and unlock with the boy in the back seat, when someone jumped in and took off, said Dolton police chief Ernest Mobley.

At the time, it was unclear whether the child was in danger. Police had said they hoped the person later realized the child was in the back seat.

They were in a black 2021 Kia K5 with North Carolina license plate HKB6993, which last drove north on Lincoln Avenue.

It is not clear whether the vehicle has been recovered.

The baby is now being examined at St. Margaret Hospital, Mobley said.
