As promised, Amazon is adding group calls to Echo devices – just in time for those socially distant vacation dates. If you live in the US, you can use Alexa to start a group call on our Echo speaker or display. As long as someone in your circle has created a group, anyone in that group can start a voice or video conversation with other members. As you can imagine, this could be especially useful for connecting with your family.
You will have alternatives. Both Zoom and Amazon Chime calls run on Echo Show 8 to allow you to participate in video conferencing without reaching for a laptop or portable device. Meanwhile, individual chats now offer subtitles for voice and video calls on all Echo Show devices. This could be vital if you have hearing difficulties or simply have a noisy household.
