Alianza País calls for an investigation in the Superintendency of Insurance to increase salaries

Santo Domingo, RD.

The Alianza País party has asked the government’s Ethics and Integrity Directorate and the Public Procurement and Contracts Directorate to investigate the salary increase of more than 26 million pesos from the Superintendency of Insurance, led by former deputy Josefa Castillo.

The request is made after Castillo’s statements that he increased the salary from 22 to 26 million pesos and that “he should name his people”.

Members of the National District Council indicated that at a time like this, when the country is going through one of the biggest health crises as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, a strategic institution such as the Superintendency of Insurance “should give priority to its resources materials and people to maintain their role as rector, regulatory and supervisory authority of the insurance sector in the country and do not pay political favors ”.

They described this type of action as a mockery of the ethical commitment of senior civil servants, promoted by the government’s Directorate for Ethics and Integrity, led by Milagros Ortíz Bosch and signed by the President of the Republic himself, Luis Abinader.

They also said that Alianza País would follow this case closely, so they hoped that an investigation would be carried out as soon as possible to clarify that these appointments complied with all regulations required by law.
