Comedian Alexis Valdes and the singer Willy chirino they premiered the musical theme this month I’m Cuban, a collective project that in just five hours made over 33,000 views on the YouTube video platform.

The unmistakable trumpet of the musician can be heard in the song Arturo Sandoval and is already circulating among Cubans inside and outside the island, who proudly shout the phrase.
Its author, Alexis Valdés, told the news agency EFE that the song mentions different countries of the world as a sign of “national pride and dignity” and claims Cubanism “to all who live outside Cuba”.
“I wrote it back because someone in the Cuban Ministry of Culture about a year ago was referring to people who question the government’s policy of not being Cubans, especially those of us who live outside of Cuba.” explained the popular comedian.
He said that “as he wrote it, he became a song of national unity, of national pride, but the beginning was a claim to a right ”.

Maikel Dinza from Santiago de Cuba was on bass, while the arranger himself and Michel Carballo participated in choirs with his harpsichord.
The mixing and mastering was done by Wady D., from the company based in Hialeah (South Florida), M Plus Media, which works regularly with Chirino.
Valdés reported that To make the video, several people sent pictures of themselves from different parts of the world, such as Nelson Peña, principal dancer at the Abay Kazakhstan State Ballet Theater in Central Asia.

Recently, Valdés and Chirino were invited to participate in the virtual meeting of Cuban artists with members European Parliament, entitled “Homeland and life, art and politics united by Cuba”, following the success of the song Homeland and life, played by Yotuel, Gente de Zona, Descemer Bueno, Maykel Osorbo and el Funky.
At that meeting, they denounced the Cuban regime’s arbitrariness against artists living in other countries, such as themselves and Sandoval himself, who were forbidden to return to the island where they were born.
