The Cuban musician Willy chirino and the actor, presenter and comedian Alexis Valdes confirmed that on March 15 next year they will launch their common musical theme I’m Cuban.
The comedian stated on his Facebook profile that he will award the musical theme together with the singer I’m Cuban and shared an excerpt from a video in which he asked his followers to answer “What has the motorcycle I mechanize got to do with some malanga frituritas with the theme of the song?”
As Chirino points out in his profile on the social network Facebook, they chose this date for historical reasons. In addition, the singer warned his followers to be vigilant, as both artists will post excerpts from the video before the premiere.
“Friends, one of the most important events in the history of Cuban freedom and which is most closely linked to the current reality on the island is the BARAGUÁ PROTEST of March 15, 1878. That is why Alexis Valdés chose this release date for YO SOY CUBANO which he wrote and recorded together in January last year. We will post small snippets of the video up to 15 daily. The song I’m Cuban, is dedicated to all Cubans who are scattered around the world and who keep their roots and identity alive. project of this duo of popular artists intends to make a video in which compatriots from as many places in the world as possible will participate, as it was announced at that time.
“We are preparing a video in which we want to include images of Cubans who are identical in Europe, Asia, Africa, North America or South America. I mean, we want a lot of them to appear in this video. You, who are the reason for this song, “said Alexis Valdés on his Instagram profile, where he encouraged all those compatriots who would like to be part of the audiovisual to register from a characteristic place of the city or city where they lived. Recently, Valdés and Chirino were invited to attend the virtual meeting held by Cuban artists in front of European Parliament, under the title “Patria y Vida, art and politics united by Cuba”, following the success of the play Patria y Vida, performed by Yotuel, Gente de Zona, Descemer Bueno, Maykel Osorbo and el Funky.
On this occasion, the comedian called on Europe and the world to supports Cubans in change, because the country needs a transition to democracy. “The world cannot continue to turn its back on what is happening in Cuba,” he said.
