Do you like a song and want to share it with a friend? You can do this with your Alexa device now.

The company has introduced a music sharing feature for Alexa, which will allow the assistant to send a song or artist to a connection that also has an Alexa-compatible device. While listening to a song, you can ask Alexa to pass it on to someone you know by saying, “Alexa, share this song [friend]. “However, you will have to activate Alexa Communications, which will ask you to import your contact list.

When you send a song to one of your contacts, Alexa will inform them both through the Alexa app and on their Echo device. Then they can ask to hear their messages, and Alexa will respond by asking her to play the song. (The notification will also appear as a push notification if you have them enabled.)

Amazon says Alexa will play the song either on a recipient’s default music streaming service or on another service on their device. If she can’t find the same song you asked her to send, Alexa will recommend a post to listen to based on the artist’s name and song title.

If you want to check which of your contacts are fellow Echo users, go to Alexa app, navigate to Communicate and select Our message.

While sharing your contact list with Amazon is optional, this music sharing feature isn’t likely for those who feel anxious to share more data with the company than they already do. You know, there’s always YouTube. Or Spotify. Or SoundCloud. Or – you have the idea.
