Alex Trebek’s last week Danger the episodes started with a emotional message from the late host. In the opening moments of tonight’s episode, which was filmed just 10 days before Trebek’s death, in November, the host addressed the audience with words of inspiration and hope.
“This is the season of giving. I know you want to be generous with family, friends, loved ones, ”he began. “But today I want to go one step further. I want you to open your hands, to open your hearts to those who are still suffering from COVID-19, people who are to blame.
“We are trying to build a gentler and kinder society, and if we all show up a little, we will get there,” Trebek told viewers.
Trebek’s message remained with many Danger spectators, who remembered the host for his compassion, intelligence and class. “Wow Alex Trebek’s speech to start Jeopardy tonight. Such an inspiration ”, one posted on Twitter. Another wrote“Of course, Alex Trebek started his last week of shows with a message to stay together, because so many people are suffering because of Covid. I’m crying at Jeopardy! again.”
In an interview on Today’s show earlier this morning, Danger executive producer Mike Richards praised Trebek for his emotional speech, recalling the day they filmed the episode in the studio. “In this extremely special, incredible week, he comes out and has a discussion about the importance of coming together and sticking together and that the world is fighting, but that we need to get along,” Richards said. “I was just shivering. There are specific moments in Danger when you clap your hands, and then there are times when you are calm. There aren’t that many people in the studio because of COVID and we all burst into applause. We were so excited that we had to applaud. “
Trebek’s last week Danger The episodes will air every night this week on 7 / 6c on ABC, ending with its latest new episode on Friday, January 8th.
