Alec Baldwin has something to say about Gillian Anderson who uses her American accent while accepting Golden Globe Sunday for “Crown” – a move seemingly confusing to fans of his British work.
“Changing accents? Sounds fascinating, ”Baldwin, 62, wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.
He was just one of many who discussed Anderson’s normal Yank voice, with some hardly believing that the 52-year-old Chicago native and former “X-Files” star was even American.
“It simply came to my notice then @GillianA it doesn’t really have an English accent in real life ” wrote a fan, with another addition“I feel so uncomfortable knowing that Gillian Anderson is American and not British.”
Anderson had plenty of time to perfect his British accent, as he spent several years living in London and said in the past that he often slipped back and forth between accents.
“Even on the phone, my accent will change,” she told The Telegraph in 2009.
Baldwin’s decision to bring Anderson’s accent is possibly an attempt by the actor to cunningly defend his wife Hilaria Baldwin.
The 37-year-old mother was called in December for her fluctuating Spanish accent shortly before admitting her real name was Hillary. She was also raised in Boston, unlike Mallorca, Spain, as he deliberately led people to believe.
More recently, the couple shocked the audience when they met baby six just five months after a son, Eduardo, joined their baby.
