After more than 14 hours of work, firefighters put out a fire in the sale of spare parts on Venezuela Boulevard

During the extinction, at least 500 cubic meters of water transported by fire tanks were used, as well as that provided by ANDA pipes.

Firefighters worked this morning to remove debris from the fire that broke out yesterday at La Casa del Repuesto on Venezuela Boulevard in San Salvador.

“With 21 hours of work, we removed the debris and liquidated in a sector of the burned structure in #BulevardVenezuela,” the institution reported on Twitter.

Earlier, at around 11:50 last night, the institution detailed that they had completed 14 hours of work to extinguish the structural fire and that the staff was taking over to continue the works.

It also turned out that during the extinguishing tasks at least 500 cubic meters of water transported by the fire tanks were used, as well as the one supplied several times by the ANDA pipes.

Meanwhile, the Civil Protection explained that over 150 people from different institutions participated in the works in that place.

“The level III structural fire in the sale of spare parts has been controlled, the actions are focused on suffocating the various materials that are still burning inside,” the institution detailed on Thursday at noon, always on its Twitter account. They even stated that it was necessary to “use foam for flammable substances”.

The incident also affected the sale of paint, and firefighters worked to prevent the fire from spreading to homes and other businesses nearby.

On Thursday afternoon, they reportedly carried out “defensive maneuvers” to protect “some houses in Passage 1 in the Luz neighborhood, adjacent to the southwest side of the burned structure.”

The flames came from the warehouse of the unit located on the second floor of the business, where the staff of the aid entity started working to try to suffocate them from about 10:00 this Thursday morning.

“Lubricants, all kinds of spare parts and new tires” were stored in the warehouse, which “causes that thick black smoke”, the fire source explained.

Some people who suffered a nervous breakdown or were affected by smoke inhalation were treated on the spot, said one of the rescuers.

About 22 firefighters worked in the area with “three units, a tank and external support to supply it in the sale of spare parts,” the source said. At least two pipes from ANDA collaborated, added fire director Edwin Chavarría.
