Nintendo is known for surprises, but very few could have predicted this announcement. After three decades of Japanese exclusivity, Nintendo is finally launching Famicom Detective Club: The missing heir and Famicom Detective Club: The girl standing behind in the West. As the name suggests, they were originally released on Famicom, which is better known as the NES for Western audiences.
Confirmed by Direct today, Nintendo released this PR statement shortly after:
Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir / Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind: Two deep Nintendo cuts from Japan are coming to Europe for the first time, localized with English text and completely upgraded for the Nintendo Switch. Twists, turns and drama await at every corner in both suspenseful games. Discover the deadly truth in Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir and Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind, coming to the Nintendo eShop as a package on May 14th. Game pre-orders now start in the Nintendo eShop on the Nintendo Switch.
Both games are remade by the developers of Mages, which was previously announced in 2019. Faithfully recreating these original 8-bit adventures, both will arrive on May 14 for the Switch eShop, available separately or grouped together.
