Adriano Espaillat: “Trump cannot go home in peace without administering justice”

Congressman Adriano Espaillat took part in a vigil for peace and unity of the United States last Friday after the riots at the Capitol Building in Washington on Wednesday, where the deaths of at least five people have been reported.

Espaillat reiterated that what happened at the Capitol this week is the responsibility of President Donald Trump, for which he said he must face justice.

“He (Donald Trump) cannot go home safely without justice, we all lose when this happens,” he said during an interview with journalists.

Likewise, he backed the claim that Donald Trump will be removed before January 20, when it is the transfer of power.

He said that Trump should be removed as soon as possible but that an appeal to the 25th Amendment is not possible because it requires the cooperation of the vice president and the cabinet and is so far not available.

Likewise, he assured that the way out is for him to be removed through the House of Representatives, where the Senate must then vote and avoid forgiving himself.

Thousands of followers of United States President Donald Trump concentrated in front of the Capitol Building in Washington last Wednesday, causing clashes with police and chaotic scenes at the gates of Congress, where lawmakers formally confirmed Joe Biden’s triumph at the presidential elections on November 6.

Last Friday, the flags of the United States Capitol were raised at half mast after the death of police officer Brian Sicknick, 42, who left five dead in the attack on that building by supporters of outgoing president, Donald Trump.

Four other people, all involved in the protests, also died. An Air Force veteran and staunch Trump supporter was shot dead inside the building by a Capitol police officer and wrapped in a president’s flag.

Three other Trump supporters were killed in “medical emergencies” in areas of the Capitol: two men died of heart attacks and one woman of injuries sustained when she was run over by the crowd outside the building.
