ADHS makes several COVID-19 vaccine appointments available Tuesday, adults over 65 eligible to register

PHOENIX – Additional appointments for the coronavirus vaccine will become available on Tuesday morning at state vaccination sites, but high demand and available doses remain a concern.

At 9 a.m. on Jan. 19, ADHS says eligible Arizonans can register for vaccination schedules in February for Glendale State Farm Stadium and Phoenix Municipal Stadium in the Phoenix / Tempe area.

“Initial appointments are limited by the supply of vaccines, with appointments opening based on the distribution of the vaccine by the federal government,” the Arizona Department of Health said Monday morning.

Arizona has received weekly vaccine allowances from the federal government, which determines how many doses of vaccine the state has and how many appointments can be offered.

ABOUT: With the expansion of vaccine phase 1B, many Arizonans are unable to meet

ADHS says the state is working to ensure more doses and will continue to provide as many meetings as possible. Community and county vaccination sites are also working to vaccinate as many eligible Arizonans as possible and to expand availability.

As of Monday morning, ADHS says more than 281,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given to nearly 244,000 Arizonans.

Tuesday also marks the addition of Arizonans who are 65 and older to the vaccine’s priority group. On Tuesday, those over 65 will be eligible to register for a vaccine meeting.

Priority groups to date include: front-line health care workers, emergency workers and residents and long-term care staff (in Phase 1A): and protection workers; K-12, university and community college educators; childcare workers; and adults aged 75 years and over (priority phase 1B).
