Actress Lori Loughlin has been released from the federal prison in East Bay – NBC Bay Area

Actress Lori Loughlin was released Monday from a federal prison in Dublin after serving a two-month sentence for her role in the college admissions scam that federal investigators called Operation Blues Varsity.

It was unclear what time Loughlin was released from prison, but a prison official confirmed to NBC Bay Area that she had been released.

Loughlin turned himself in to federal authorities nearly three weeks earlier in late October after apologizing publicly for his role in a large-scale scam scandal that saw several celebrities pay large sums of money for to take their children to elite universities under false pretenses.

Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Gianniulli reportedly paid $ 500,000 for the two daughters to be admitted to the University of Southern California under the guise of athletic recruitment for the school’s crew.

Gianniulli is still serving a five-month term in a federal prison in Lompoc, California.

The actress and her designer husband also paid heavy fines and pledged to complete hundreds of hours of community service.

Loughlin was in the general prison population and had to be tested for COVID-19. Like other detainees in the unit, she was not visited due to the pandemic.

The prison had a coronavirus outbreak that affected 185 of its 900 detainees, along with three prison staff.

Dublin Prison is the same unit where actress Felicity Huffman served 12 days in October 2019 for her role in the college admissions scandal.
