Actor John Travolta is selling his mansion in Maine

The Maine mansion that actor John Travolta shared with his now deceased wife, actress Kelly Preston, has been put up for sale.

The 67-year-old “Grease” and “Saturday Night Fever” star recently listed the $ 5 million home in Islesboro, an island off the coast of Maine, according to the Portland Press Herald.

The couple bought the house in 1991, when they first married and remodeled it from a “very dark and gloomy” house into a bright family home for their unborn son Jett, according to a 1999 report published in Architectural Digest. Built in 1903, the 1,000-square-foot (10,830-square-meter) house has 20 rooms and is located on a 19-hectare (48-acre) property along the ocean.

Travolta told Architectural Digest that he and Preston bought the house after visiting actress Kirstie Alley at her home on the island. The couple said they always want a house big enough to accommodate dozens of family members.

Preston, who starred opposite Tom Cruise in “Jerry Maguire” and Arnold Schwarzenegger in “Gemini,” died last year after losing a two-year battle with breast cancer. He was 57 years old. Their first son, Jett, died in 2009 after being kidnapped at the family’s vacation home in the Bahamas.

Travolta became a Hollywood star in the 1970s and was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in “Saturday Night Fever.”

He was nominated again for his role in “Pulp Fiction” in 1994.
