American actor Dustin Diamond, best known for playing the squeaky nerd in the hit TV series Saved by the bell, died Monday, his agent said, just weeks after he was diagnosed with aggressive cancer. He was 44 years old. “He was diagnosed with this brutal, relentless form of malignancy just three weeks ago. At that time, he managed to spread rapidly throughout his system,” the agent, Roger Paul, told AFP. “Dustin didn’t suffer. He didn’t have to lie in pain. For that, we’re grateful.” Diamond, originally from California, began his career with Good morning, Miss Bliss, a series about high school students that lasted only one season, but which gave birth Saved by the bell.

In 2009, his book of all“Behind the bell it contained some juicy backstage stories of the set – but Diamond later admitted that it was full of made-up anecdotes.
In 2015, he was sentenced to four months in prison for carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct in connection with a stabbing at a bar.
He was released from prison a month earlier in 2016 for good behavior.
In recent years, Diamond has worked as a backup comedian and has appeared in several reality TV shows.
“We are aware that Dustin is not considered reputable by most. He has had a history of misfortune, of unfortunate events,” his agent said Monday.
“We want the public to understand that it was not malicious. (…) His actions, although reprehensible, resulted from losses and a lack of knowledge about how to process that pain properly. ”
Last year, when the rest Saved by the bell Distribution reunited for another restart, Diamond did not appear.
His former co-stars paid tribute to him on Monday.
“It saddens me to hear about the passing of Dustin Diamond, a true comedian genius,” Gosselaar wrote on Twitter.
“Looking back on our time together, I will miss those raw, bright sparks that only he was able to produce. A pie in front of you, my comrade.”
Mario Lopez, who played on AC Slater Bell, he added, “Dustin, you will miss my man. The fragility of this life is something that should never be taken for granted.”
