Activision Blizzard has confirmed the continuation of the team shooter Overwatch will not arrive this year.
This announcement was made by the company’s chief financial officer and president of emerging affairs, Dennis M. Durkin, during the earnings call in the fourth quarter.
“Our prospects do not include Diablo IV or Overwatch 2 launch in 2021. “
Overwatch 2 is focused on implementing multiple PvE and story content. Blizzard previously said that the original Overwatch players will have full access to the PvP content of the sequel.
“Current Overwatch players will battle side by side with Overwatch 2 players in multiplayer PvP; heroes and Overwatch 2 maps will also be able to play.“
Overwatch 2 was initially confirmed for the Nintendo Switch along with multiple other platforms from BlizzCon 2019.
