Active cases are rising in Brazos County as the Christmas holiday approaches

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – reported Brazos County Health District 103 additional positive cases of COVID-19 in Brazos County. There are currently 1,277 active cases.

No new deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours. There were 130 deaths in Brazos County related to COVID-19.

9,710 patients are classified as recovering, which means that they have been without fever for 72 hours without fever-reducing medications and 10 days have passed since the onset of symptoms.

27 percent of new confirmed cases come from the 18-24 age group.

There have been 2,044 probable cases in Brazos County since June 18, 2020. A probable case of COVID-19 is determined by a positive antigen test. The confirmed cases of COVID-19 are determined by a positive PCR test. The health sector conducts investigations into all confirmed and probable cases.

Currently, there are 269 active cases active and there were 1,775 probable cases recovered.

The total number of positive confirmed cases in the county since the beginning of the testing is 11,117. 118,681 tests were performed.

The total occupancy of hospital beds in Brazos County is 87%, and the total occupancy of ICU beds is 83%.

Currently, there are 36 residents of Brazos County hospitalized for COVID-19.

Most of the Brazos Valley falls within the N state trauma service area (Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson and Washington counties). The trauma service area N currently reports 641 hospital beds with staff, with 71 beds available. According to the latest state data, the region has 1 available ICU beds and 66 available fans. The latest state update lists 93 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients currently in the hospital.

The Texas State COVID-19 dashboard has undergone some updates and changed the way they define numbers. The total number of cases is now the combination of confirmed cases and probable cases.

University of Texas A&M

The Texas A&M COVID-19 dashboard reported 23 new cases and 192 active cases on December 15th.

Currently, the university reported 4,396 positive cases, 7 percent of tests returned positive.

Statewide, Texas has approximately 272,579 active cases and 1,245,339 recoveries. A total of 1,555,981 cases and 28,056,888 total tests (both viral and antibody) were reported.

To date, 24,954 Texans have died from COVID-19.

254 of 254 counties in the state of Texas currently report cases. Harris County leads the state in total cases, with 214,180 cases reported.
