Accompanied Yemeni twins fly to Jordan for a separation operation

Two-month-old boys from Yemen flew to Jordan over the weekend to undergo a separation operation, according to the video of their trip.

The twins, Mohammed and Ahmed, were born on December 17, along with the rib cage and stomach.

Their father said the family was receiving international treatment with UNICEF because of the limited resources of the troubled health system in Yemen.

Yemen has been embroiled in a six-year civil war, creating what the United Nations has called “the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.”

The mother of the 35-year-old boys works as a street vendor in Sana’a, the capital of Yemen, UNICEF said.

The agency said “private donors” cover the costs of the operation.

“After weeks of arrangements, we are happy that the twins are now in a hospital in Jordan for surgery,” Philippe Duamelle, UNICEF’s representative in Yemen, said in a statement.
