The Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) reported that a total of 946 PLD leaders registered to run for a seat on that party’s Central Committee.
According to the communication, out of the 946 who registered, 646 chose to compete locally and 300 nationally.
The organizing committee of the IX Ordinary Congress José Joaquín Bidó Medina of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) ended the registration process of the aspiring members of the Central Committee at midnight on Wednesday, as agreed in the Regulations governing this process. .
In the proclamation of the opening of the electoral process for the members of the Central Committee, it was established that the expiration date of the registrations was January 20, 2021 at twelve o’clock at midnight, as it happened.
Both in the Regulation and in the Opening Proclamation, two levels of elections are reported, the local one in which 190 leaders will be elected and the national level 110 leaders.
The preliminary report provided by the Secretariat for Electoral Affairs to the Commission of the Ninth Congress explains that about a dozen cases are being resolved due to the fact that their files are being reviewed. It was also reported that 24 percent of the leaders who signed up are on the scale of young people, ie under 40 years old. 18 percent are women.
On January 13, with the publication of the Proclamation, the Dominican Liberation Party left open the internal electoral process to elect the members of the Central Committee, informing that the election date will be February 14.
By closing the registration, the Organizing Committee of the Congress, now in its role of National Electoral Commission, has until Friday, January 22, to approve the candidacies and on Saturday, January 23, will proceed to publish the list of participants in the electoral contest
