President Luis Abinader thanked the Chinese government for donating 50,000 vaccines, in addition to delivering one million doses that the Dominican Republic had purchased with Sinovac, a pharmaceutical laboratory in that country.
“I thank the Chinese government and its president, Xi Jinping, for authorizing the export permit for 1 million vaccines and donating another 50,000 for the continuation of the vaccination process,” the president said in a post on his Twitter account.

On Wednesday afternoon, Vice President Raquel Peña received the fourth batch of vaccines arriving in the country. It consisted of 1 million 50 thousand doses of biological substance against Covid-19, purchased in China and made by the Sinovac laboratory.
The shuttle, scheduled for 4:30 p.m., arrived late at Las Americas International Airport at 5:10 p.m. in an Air China Boeing 777 plane that made a charter flight with a stopover route from Beijing. to Chicago and the final destination in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Peña reported that there is still no exact date for the next batch of vaccines that the country will receive, but estimated that at the end of March they could be trampled on Dominican soil.
In addition to the vice president, the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the country, HE Zhang Run, was also present.
