Abinader says there are vaccines to complete the second phase; admits delayed arrival by a million doses

President Luis Abinader assured that the country has enough vaccines to end the second phase of the Vaccination Plan.

“We have another vaccine here to end the second phase, we have enough vaccines,” the president said when asked about the arrival of millions of doses of Chinese Sinovac vaccine that should have arrived in the country on March 25.

The president, who addressed the press while overseeing the vaccination process at Pedro Henríquez Ureña University (Unphu), explained that the pharmaceutical company had supply problems, so he does not know the exact day of arrival.

“It is planned to come in the next few days, you know that, with the situation in which you see the international news, there are problems and supply terms, which do not tell you exactly the day, but in the coming days must arrive as they confirmed us -o ”.

The president said the second dose was expected to be completed next week to begin inoculation with people over 60.

The head of state said that the vaccination process is proceeding as expected and that people went to the vaccination centers, although some did not leave on the corresponding day.

“The vaccination process is going well, we calculate, depending on the projections, at each stage and according to figures that about 80% of those vaccinated live in the first stage, however this will be met, there are some that I will play one day and other days are coming, but this is organized, we hope it will end as we planned ”.

The president called on the population to come and receive the second dose of vaccine

“Please, as I called you and you have come now during Holy Week, that I am coming tomorrow and Sunday and that we will finish the second dose next week with all the facilities and that no one is left without being vaccinated already in the age range provided “.

He congratulated the citizens on the organized way in which they came to be vaccinated

“I want to congratulate the Dominican people for the disciplined way they organized with the education they did all over the country, they are a people we are really proud of the way they came.”
