Abinader says hospitals in the country were “in an unfair situation” at the inauguration of the refurbishment of Félix María Goico Hospital

On Thursday, President Luis Abinader inaugurated the emergency and dental areas of Dr. Félix María Goico Hospital, with an investment of 25 million pesos.

The president, who on his arrival on the spot was hailed by a crowd he approached to greet, said that the country’s hospitals are in an unfair situation, which could be improved and they need to participate in the six months they had been in government.

“In the few months we have been in charge of the government, we have had to participate and resolve an unfair situation, such as having health facilities across the country, which in many cases have been quite improveable,” said the President of the Republic. .

The president explained that the investment in hospital reforms and improvements was 22 million pesos and, in addition, over three million were allocated in the emergency area.

He stressed that the investments made by the government in the hospital network aim at achieving a modern, inclusive and efficient health system.

“We have always said that our health care network should not be the best. And I say it because I believe it.

And that is why these investments that we make in the national network of hospitals seek the goal of achieving that health system that we deserve so much; An inclusive, modern and efficient health system. A 21st century system, “said the president.

He said that politics should always be a tool to promote the well-being of people, to guarantee their rights and to provide the conditions to make them effective.

The director of the National Health Service, Mario Lama, stressed that the emergency care center will have a triage, nebulization, medicine, resuscitation office and multipurpose observation rooms with five beds, pediatric and gynecological emergency areas, a waiting room, counting and billing, health care station and patient toilets.

In addition to one of the dental unit, five independent cabins were built, equipped with dental chairs and wall-mounted X-ray equipment. Similarly, changes were made to panels, lights, windows and air conditioning throughout the area.

The intervention of Félix María Goico Hospital also included the remodeling of the facade, the interior painting on the corridors and the common areas of the first and second level, the readjustment of the billing and admission area, the creation of an air-conditioned waiting room, the renovation of the elevator shaft. , polishing and shining the staircase floor, ceiling location, lighting, conditioning and beautification of the main entrance and construction of planters.

The center also has 54 hospital beds, thirteen clinics, eight neonatal cribs, four pre-surgical beds, two prepartum, seven postpartum, eight postoperative, a work room and four surgical beds, Lama explained.

Once the formal act was completed, the president left without taking a tour of the hospital’s units.
