Abinader says educational centers were born to be open

President Luis Abinader said yesterday that schools were “born” to be open to students, teachers and communities, despite the “great crisis” in the education sector of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The President stressed that the population must ensure that returning to the classroom contributes to maintaining the educational process and maintaining the health of students, teachers, principals and school support staff, who have safe classrooms and effective health protocols.

The president spoke at the head of the official act of gradual return to face-to-face education, after a year of pandemic caused by Covid-19. The activity took place at the Juana Taveras Liriano basic school, in Guerra municipality.

Also in a virtual way, Vice President Raquel Peña and First Lady Raquel Arbaje simultaneously led the return to the classrooms in Santiago and Bonao, respectively.

The grades are turning

In the first stage, only the children of the initial level, the first cycle of primary school, the sixth year of gymnasium in the technical-professional and art modalities, as well as the students of the educational subsystem will participate in the educational units. for young people and adults. They must have the written consent of the parents.

In 48 municipalities, 1,958 schools will start with a number of 419,980 students and 21,524 teachers. While the administrative staff amounts to 16,082.

Students will spend two to four hours in school, depending on the educational center and will complete their program with distance education, said the Minister of Education, Roberto Fulcar. In addition, the school uniform will not be compulsory, so if the student does not have it, he can participate with ordinary clothes.
