President Luis Abinader congratulated his American counterpart, Joe Biden, who took office on Wednesday.
In the message, also addressed to Vice President Kamala Harris, Abinader indicated that the government is ready to strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations, reiterating the phrase the US president used in his first tweet as president: “There is no time to waste”.
Biden became the 46th president of the United States, while her running mate is the first woman in office in that country’s history.
Biden took office amid tensions that led supporters of outgoing president Donald Trump to attack the Capitol within days of arriving at the White House, rejecting the Democrats’ victory.
