Abinader begins the expansion of the San Isidro highway

On Thursday, President Luis Abinader gave the first floor to begin expansion work on Colonel Rafael Fernández Domínguez Boulevard, better known as the San Isidro Highway.

The project includes the construction of two new lanes to increase the capacity of the road from two to four lanes in each direction of traffic. with an investment of 800 million pesos of which 600 million RD dollars are in the budget for this year.

The boulevard will be operated from Charles de Gaulle to San Isidro Air Base, which includes 5.13 kilometers of an additional lane to turn at intersections.

The Minister of Public Works, Deligne Ascensión, assured that the occupied areas will be recovered and that, at the end of the works, the municipalities will be able to walk on the sidewalks without having to risk their lives.

He announced that the boulevard will be designed to install a VTR rapid transport system.

The Minister assured that the works will be completed at the end of 2022.

Ascensión guaranteed that in the coming days other works will be launched that will benefit the citizens of Santo Domingo Este.

Details about the work

The four lanes that the work will have will be equipped with signaling and sewerage elements, depending on the characteristics of the existing traffic and the technical regulations in force in the country.
