President Luis Abinader started the General Plan for Tourism and Economic Development of the so-called tourist areas in the north of the country, which includes the development of over 40 investment projects, inaugurated a sewage treatment plant and gave the first pie for building a fishing pier .
Abinader is in this province yesterday morning, where he carried out a series of activities that continue today in a journey that begins at 10:00 in the morning with the inauguration of the Abraham Gómez Bridge in Puñal.

This wastewater system and the pulse line were built with an investment exceeding 320 million pesos.
It was built as a result of a cooperation agreement of the Ministry of Tourism, for the collection and sanitation of municipal wastewater, for the benefit of a population of more than 20,000 inhabitants.
The project consists of the collection network of the sanitary sewerage system, two pumping stations and the wastewater treatment plant for anaerobic biological processes.
Abinader recalled that in his election campaign he also announced the formation of a major national plan to provide drinking water to all communities in the national territory that did not have the service, but added that the implementation plan needs more than a period.
“The change is real. The current situation of drinking water is unacceptable and we are not willing to continue to resist this situation, “he said.
The president reminded that 80% of the water generated in the country is lost and that 50% of the population does not receive it.
He said that the National Water Plan, to be developed by the government, will have the participation of all social and political sectors of the country.
“On the part of the government, we are undertaking a series of infrastructures and reforms throughout the country that return the inherited situation and offer a definitive solution to a problem that should have been solved a long time ago,” he added.
The plant collects wastewater from the community, tourist hotels and sectors of the municipality of Luperón by gravity, up to two pumping stations, and from there it is sent to the treatment plant located two kilometers from the pumping station.
It consists of a collection network with 8- and 12-inch PVC pipes, SDR-26, and the collected wastewater is taken to the treatment plant where it is treated.

The plan includes the development of a tourist corridor in the northern part of the country, real estate projects, theme and ecological parks, scuba diving and a 250-kilometer coastal sea route between Punta Rucia and Río San Juan.
