The spiritual leader of the Mita, Inc. Congregation, Teófilo Vargas Seín (Aaron), died tonight, at the age of 99, after suffering from various health conditions, confirmed the vice president of the congregation, Rosinín Rodríguez Pérez.
Rodríguez Pérez stated that “our boyfriend Aaron passed away on January 18, 2021 at the age of 99, due to an extensive history of cardiovascular diseases. Until the last moment of his life, he was accompanied by his loved ones and his team of doctors, who gave him all the love and the greatest attention and care ”.
“Today our church celebrates the birth of Aaron to eternal life, rest in peace with our beloved father and spiritual leader, Aaron,” added Rodriguez Perez.
For years, the religious leader faced a long legal battle for refusing to recognize his son, Samuel Beníquez, until he was subjected to a paternity test.
On the other hand, Aaron distinguished himself as the spiritual leader of the Congregation of Mita, Inc., after the death of Juanita García Peraza, the founder of the congregation, whose foundation is Christianity. From 1940 he accompanied Mita’s person until his death in 1970. And when he became his successor, he continued his legacy by developing and expanding the congregation in and out of Puerto Rico.
Under his guidance, the Church has expanded internationally to countries such as the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Panama, El Salvador, Canada, Spain, Italy, Chile, Peru, and the United States. In addition, he has created several social projects for the benefit of Puerto Rican society, such as the Colegio Congregación Mita, Aegis and the El Paraíso Institution, the Guidance and Social Assistance Office of the Mita Congregation and Los Hermanos Memorial Park.
