HIDALGO, UNITED STATES.– An agent of the Border Patrol of the United States shot a man who I tried to enter illegally to the country from the Mexican border with Texas, the Customs and Border Protection Office reported.
The officer was investigating reports of people entering the United States illegally near the port of entry in Hidalgo, about 370 kilometers south of San Antonio, when he shot the man while attempting to arrest him Friday morning.
Until this Saturday, authorities have not reported on the identity of the migrant, nor is his nationality known.

The agency says the man later died in a hospital and the officer was not injured.
The shooting is under investigation by the Border Law Enforcement Office of Professional Responsibility.
The Office of the Inspector General of the Human Services Department and the FBI are also investigating the matter, the agency said.
