A Turkish man allegedly pushed his pregnant wife off the rock after taking selfies

A Turkish man killed his pregnant wife by throwing her off a cliff after posing for selfies and then tried to collect her life insurance, prosecutors say.

Hakan Aysal was arrested for killing his wife, 32-year-old Semra Aysal, and their unborn baby during a vacation in Butterfly Valley, Mugla, Turkey, in June 2018, The Sun reported.

Aysal, 40, allegedly pushed his wife – who was seven months pregnant – off the cliff after taking pictures. She fell 1,000 meters to her death and was killed instantly, according to the press.

After Serma’s death, her husband then tried to apply for a life insurance policy that he concluded for her in the amount of 400,000 Turkish pounds, or about $ 57,000. But he was turned down because of a police investigation.

Prosecutors accused the murder of not being an “accident” and were premeditated because she wanted her money.

A court has ruled that Aysal be remanded in custody for premeditated murder.

Semra’s brother, Naim Yolcu, said that his brother-in-law does not seem to show any emotion after his sister died.

“When I went to the Institute of Forensic Medicine to remove the body, Hakan was sitting in the car,” Yoluc recalled during a video interview in court.

“My family and I were destroyed, but Hakan didn’t even look sad.”
