A society of Salvadorans living in the US claims Romeo Auerbach’s candidacy is unconstitutional

The plaintiffs allege that they violated the Chamber’s resolution on transfuguism and the GANA party statutes.

Lawyers representing the Association of Salvadorans living in the United States filed a lawsuit on Thursday for unconstitutionality against the candidacy of Romeo Auerbach, who is the virtual winner of a deputation in the La Libertad division for the GANA party.

The lawyers allege that the law was not enforced with regard to his candidacy as he previously ran for the Assembly deputy by the New Ideas party, but when he did not get the candidacy, he went to GANA where he had been accepted.

“In a week’s time, he decides to compete as a future candidate for La Libertad por Nuevas Ideas, but he will not get the necessary votes to represent that flag. Automatically he goes overnight to GANA and there he is elected by the members of the said party, “said the prosecution.

He assured that the strange thing is that the GANA statutes stipulate in Article 35 that a person belonging to another party cannot be a candidate for a popular election for the GANA flag.

“In this particular case, the figure that the statutes say and the resolutions of the Constitutional Chamber that prohibit the figure of transfuguism from going from one party to another has been ignored,” said the lawyer.
