A Scottish woman bit her man’s tongue in battle – then the seagull ate it

A lins.

A Scottish woman bit part of a man’s tongue in a wild street fight – and a seagull immediately went down and swallowed it, authorities said in a report.

Bethaney Ryan, 27, clashed with stranger James McKenzie, causing an argument in Edinburgh on August 1, 2019, according to a prosecutor quoted by the Edinburgh Evening News.

After McKenzie walked over to Ryan with a “clenched fist,” she kissed him inexplicably – then tore a 3-by-2-inch piece of his tongue, prosecutor Susan Dickson said Thursday in the Edinburgh sheriff’s court.

“He kissed her on the lips and, during this time, bit her tongue, which caused a piece of tongue to be removed,” Dickson told the court.

After spitting a bloody piece of the organ, a bird snatched it from the ground and ate it – making attachment surgery impossible, she said.

“Mr. McKenzie left and spat out part of his tongue, at which point the piece of muscle was lifted by a large seagull that came off with the piece of tongue,” Dickson said.

McKenzie was treated for “tongue laceration” after “blood began to flow,” the prosecutor said.

“No surgery was needed, as the tongue piece was no longer available and could not be reset,” the prosecutor said.

Ryan, who was arrested, pleaded guilty to assault Thursday, according to media reports. It was not immediately clear what caused the quarrel between her and McKenzie.
