A new business emerging in Lehigh Valley is expected to bring in more than 150 new jobs Lehigh Valley Regional News

BETHLEHEM TWP., Pa. – There are over 150 new jobs coming to Lehigh Valley with the expansion of Indiana-based Weaver Popcorn in Bethlehem Township, Northampton County. It will be right next to Route 22 on Brodhead Road.

It is their first expansion on the East Coast.

“Weaver popcorn was started in 1928 by Rev. Ira Weaver. She peeled her own popcorn and sold it to the local community,” said COO Billy Smith.

The family business is one of the largest producers of popcorn in the US, supplying popcorn for a variety of different brands.

Growing demand during the pandemic has forced the need for the new 40,000-square-meter facility, which is still in the early stages of construction and is expected to be completed around the summer.

“During this pandemic, we had a substantial increase in growth. And, as you know, Justin, people like to sit on the couch and eat popcorn and watch a movie, when they can’t get out. Business.” said Smith.

The business will create new jobs when many no longer work.

“So about 125 to 175 once we get through the third phase. So we can bring about 175 total jobs to the area,” Smith said.

The company does a job fair with CareerLink, but you can also apply online.

“It’s www.workatweaver.com and that will take you straight to our career page,” Smith said.
