A teenager who died of COVID-19 this year passed in a much more graphic way than originally thought … because the walls of his hospital room were full of blood.
13 years old Peyton BaumgarthThe death of the coronavirus in late October was well documented, but the photos recently distributed by his mother, Stephanie Franek, shows how terrible his last moments were while doctors and hospital staff tried life-saving measures, which ultimately failed.
The child had been placed on a ventilator after going to a hospital in St. Louis. Louis. Sure enough, he had contracted the virus … but his condition worsened in just a few days – leaving him in need of a therapy called ECMO to reduce his oxygen levels in the drop.
For some reason, after treatment, Peyton began to have a hemorrhage in his chest, at which point he began to have terrible episodes of coughing that required emergency surgery. As the documents tried to replace the ECMO tubes in his throat, the blood that had collected there began to splash everywhere as they tried to resuscitate him and make him breathe.
Peyton eventually died, and his mother captured photos of the consequences – which included splashes of blood on the walls and cars around his bed.
Stephanie’s story serves as a warning story – she says she never thought she would lose her son, despite the underlying conditions she had, which put him more at risk for respiratory problems. Peyton’s friends and family started a GoFundMe to help with funeral expenses.
Be careful … this virus is just as brutal and lethal – as we can clearly see here.
