When this enterprising teenager got a job at Georgia Kroger, he was allowed to work – cheating nearly $ 1 million from the store in the two weeks he worked there, according to police.
Gwinnett County police say 19-year-old Tre Brown stole more than $ 980,000 from the Duluth grocery store in Georgia, where he worked in December and January.
Brown created more than 40 returns for non-existent items and put them on credit cards, police said. Yields ranged in price from $ 75 to over $ 87,000.
He used the money to buy two vehicles, clothes, shoes and weapons, according to police.
The scam was so discouraged that it caught the attention of Kroger’s corporate employees. They contacted the police department after noticing the fraudulent transactions.
Brown faces a charge of theft by taking.
Police said Brown had totaled one of the vehicles he bought with the money before being arrested, but “a large sum of money” was returned after the arrest.
