Naples police told CNN that “the magistrate has appointed a technical expert to determine the causes of the collapse, which could be caused by water infiltration, given the heavy rains of the last two weeks.”
“The hypothesis early in the morning that there was an explosion was rejected. No one was injured or killed,” police added.
Firefighters used dog units to check that no one was caught at the scene.
Following the incident, the hospital evacuated six patients from an asymptomatic Covid ward.
There was also a water outage in the hospital, the press office said. The generators now supply it with electricity.
