A giant pit opened in the parking lot of a hospital in Naples, Italy
ROME – A giant pit opened on Friday in the parking lot of a hospital in Naples, Italy, forcing the temporary closure of a nearby residence to recover patients with COVID-19 because the electricity was cut off.
The operations were not affected at the Sea Hospital, and firefighters said no one was injured. Dolina consumed several cars in the otherwise empty visitors’ parking lot of the hospital.
The neighborhood of local hospitals said that the 20-meter-deep pit, 2,000 square meters (21,527 square meters), opened at dawn. Chief Firefighter Cmdr. Ennio Aquilino told Italian television channel SkyTG 24 that the implosion could have been caused by groundwater infiltration due to heavy rains in recent times.
The news quoted the regional governor as saying that the COVID-19 residence will reopen in a few days after the restoration of the electricity and water service. Both were also discontinued at the hospital, but backup systems allowed care to continue.
