The video captured by her niece follows a series of attacks on the elderly in Oakland’s Chinatown.

Wanting to keep her identity private, the woman’s niece says the incident happened on February 3 around 11 a.m. in the area of 6th Avenue and International Boulevard in Oakland.
In the video, a suspect can be seen quickly beating the 70-year-old to the ground, while another runs and steals his handbag. According to her niece, the suspects tried to take her mobile phone, but fortunately, along with the money from the bank, they were in her pocket and were not taken.
The woman’s niece says she is already on the edge after a 91-year-old man and two other seniors were attacked in Chinatown in recent weeks. She intends to file a police report and hopes to raise awareness of crimes against the elderly. She went on to say that her grandmother was bruised, but is recovering from the traumatic experience.

ABC7 News contacted Oakland police about the incident. They held a Feb. 3 press conference with local leaders and the Chinatown Chamber of Commerce, where Oakland Police Chief Bobby Hookfin said the Chinatown attacks “… appear to be more violent, for whatever reason.” we need to stop this now. ”
