A 12-year-old boy dies in a ski accident in Canada

A 12-year-old boy died in a strange skiing accident in Canada over the weekend, according to officials and a local report.

The pre-teen skied on Mt. Seymour of North Vancouver, British Columbia, on Saturday around 20:00, when he was seriously injured, police said.

In a statement to the CBC, a spokesman for the resort said the child hit a tree.

He was rushed to the BC Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“Everyone from Mt. Seymour presents the deepest sympathies and condolences to his family and friends for this tragic loss “, the resort’s statement states.

According to police, BC’s Coroner Service is investigating.
