After a series of brutal reviews earlier this month for its first smartwatch, OnePlus has released an update that could fix some of the key issues with the device. He also revealed some features that he intends to add later, such as a display that is always displayed.
The first update for OnePlus Watch launches in the US and Canada. It will expand to other regions in the coming days. Along with troubleshooting and better system stability, OnePlus claims that the update brings improvements in GPS performance and more accurate tracking of running and walking activity. The company says it has optimized heart rate monitoring and notification synchronization algorithms, enabled notification icons for the most used applications, and improved wake-up functionality.
Better tracking of activity should come as welcome news for first-time OnePlus Watch owners. Engadget review editor Cherlynn Low found that the device failed to keep a correct number of step counts, noting that “on one of my treadmill runs, it delayed the car by a third of a mile, which – he confused the rhythm “. GizmodoMeanwhile, Victoria Song wrote that “the number of steps has decreased by over 10,000 steps.”
In addition to the always on mode, OnePlus has revealed what else it is working on. If you have a smartphone running Android 6.0 or later, you’ll eventually be able to control your device’s camera remotely from a connected OnePlus Watch. An AI watch route, consisting of 12 hours and support for German, Italian, Spanish and Polish are on the way. OnePlus also intends to activate all over 110 training modes.
These added enhancements and features may not be enough to completely save the OnePlus Watch’s reputation, but it’s a start.
