Pierluisi says the incumbent secretary remains in education

Governor Pedro Pierluisi remains adamant that attorney Jesús González remains before the Department of Education as interim secretary, despite a rejection by the Puerto Rico Senate.

“I have asked Mr González to remain in charge of the interim department until he appoints the secretary in charge and the Senate gives his consent,” the president said.

Pierluisi, who in his written statements assures that he recognizes the right of the Upper House to “express his feelings about the appointment”, assures that he has a constitutional responsibility that the agency “has a permanent direction”.
