Apple orders bilingual series “Now and Then,” which Gideon Raff will direct – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Apple TV + has given a serial order for Now and then, a drama that will be filmed in Spanish and English. The thriller comes from Bambú Producciones and creators Ramón Campos, Teresa Fernández-Valdés and Gema R. Neira, the team behind the Spanish series Velvet, Cable Girls and Wonderful hotel. Gideon Raff (The spy, Homeland) will produce and direct the first two episodes.

Located in Miami with a Hispanic cast, Now and then explores the differences between youthful aspirations and the reality of maturity, when the life of a group of best friends from college changes forever after a holiday weekend ends with one of them dead. Now, 20 years later, the remaining five are reluctantly reunited with a threat that threatens their seemingly perfect worlds.

Docuseries “Watch sound with Mark Ronson” set to Apple TV +

The series will be written by Neira and Campos together with their team. Campos and Fernández-Valdés will serve as showrunners. Bambú Producciones will produce for Apple TV +.

Pilot commands and Apple TV 2020-21 series

Neira and Campos created Spanish series Wonderful hotel, which was adapted by ABC as Grand Hotel; Cable Girls, which is distributed by Netflix; and Velvet. Fernández-Valdés worked with the duo on all three series, produced by Bambú. Executive Campos and Fernández-Valdés produced the three Spanish shows, as well as the ABC ones Grand Hotel.

This is the second bilingual English / English series that Apple TV + has ordered Acapulco, a half-hour comedy series starring Eugenio Derbez inspired by the film How to be a Latin lover. The stream also has upcoming English-language action thriller series Echo 3, which is based in South America and projects under a general TV agreement with Alfonso Cuarón.

Raff created the Israeli series Prisoners of war and the executive produced his American Emmy-winning Showtime adaptation Native country. He recently created, produced and directed the limited series Netflix spy with Sacha Baron Cohen in the lead roles. It is repeated by Adam Berkowitz of Lenore Entertainment Group.
