Facebook has been planning to combine Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp for some time. More recently, Instagram and Messenger have become one and now there is some news about the integration of WhatsApp and Messenger.
Conformable WABetaInfo, the Italian leaker Alessandro Paluzzi found a recent hidden change in Facebook Messenger: a WhatsApp chat inside it.
It is not yet possible to integrate both services, but what Paluzzi did was just force a thread to be recognized as a WhatsApp conversation to show what it will look like when the feature becomes available in the future.
The speaker implies that the connection between WhatsApp and Messenger will be totally optional, because it already exists between Instagram and Messenger. WABetaInfo says that “it is possible that several functions that have already been implemented on Facebook Messenger will also appear in WhatsApp”.
Another feature that the app tests through the TestFlight beta program is a redesigned mention badge, which is different from a response in a group chat.
WABetaInfo says it’s still being tested for iOS, so it may take some time for it to appear in your WhatsApp account.
Earlier this week, the app also brought a “Missing Messages” feature to all users in a group chat and enhanced media preview. You can read more about it here.
