The Hennessey Performance team recently received a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 and a Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat, and both will soon receive 1,000-horsepower upgrades.
However, before this could happen, they set up the two radically different but extremely fast, free rides for two shooting races that reveal which of them is a quarter of a mile faster. When they crossed the finish line, they were neck and neck, although one of them was faster.
Review: 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat is forming fast, but can’t hide its age
The most powerful legal model Ford has ever made, the Mustang Shelby GT500 has a torque of 760 hp and 625 pound-feet (847 Nm) thanks to a supercharged 5.2-liter V8, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission which rear wheels. From 0 to 60 mph (0-96 km / h), it takes only 3.5 seconds, and in the plan, it will do 290 km / h.
One of the fastest SUVs currently in production, the Durango SRT Hellcat has space for the whole family, standard all-wheel drive and a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The engine delivers 710 hp and 645 lb-ft (874 Nm), rocketing it at 96 km / h in 60 seconds and up to 290 km / h, although it weighs more than two and a half tons.
If you paid attention to performance numbers, you saw that on paper, they are just as fast and that means it can really be anyone’s game. So can the powerful Durango’s AWD system give it an advantage over RWD ‘Stang?
