Kindle finally gets a feature that users have been asking for for 13 years

Amazon has been in the e-reader market for years, but since Kindle debuted in 2007, users have been asking for a fairly simple feature. For 13 years, their pleas have fallen on deaf ears, but starting this week, Amazon is finally allowing Kindle owners to set the cover of the book they read as the lock screen cover. We may never know why more than a decade passed before this function began, but at least it’s here now.

To activate the new Display Cover function, go to settings from Kindle, select Device options, then tap the switch next to it Show cover option. It’s worth noting that your Kindle will automatically choose the cover of the book, comic strip, or magazine you’re currently reading, so if you’re less willing to advertise anything you’re doing right now, you might want to. to stop activating the function.

Unfortunately, not everyone with a Kindle will have access to the new Display Cover feature. Amazon says the only Kindle models that support this feature are Kindle (8th, 10th generation), Kindle Paperwhite (7th, 10th generation), Kindle Oasis (8th, 9th) -a, 10th generation) and Kindle Voyage (7th generation). In addition, ad-supported versions of these devices will not support the feature, but you can move to an ad-free experience by following these steps:

  • Visit Amazon.com and click Content and devices option under Your account.

  • Click on Instruments tab at the top of the page.

  • Choose Kindle from the list of devices on the page.

  • Under Details, click Remove offers , which will unsubscribe you from Special Offers that appear on the lock screen. This process requires a one-time fee of $ 20.

If you have a supported device, you should see the Display Cover feature on your device now. If you’re not sure which Kindle you have, Amazon actually has a support page on hand to help you identify your model. Amazon says the feature works with “most books, magazines, comics and manga.”
